Heaven On Earth .. With an AK47?

Historic Junction Road-Goods

The above photograph was taken at Junction Road on the Goods side, in the early 1970's. If we take a look at the (previously reported) photograph below we can make a fair estimation of the location. Compare the telegraph posts on the right of the image for comparative purposes. The second (further) post is just visible.

It seems the junction has been out for a while looking at the lack of evidence on the right.

Picked up from internal RVR dialogue -

Boris Perkins is driving K&ESR's 'Sammy the Shovel' and Cathy helping out - recovering steel sleepers bought from the scrap man from the JR - Austens straight that were subsequently used in 1975 to relay the straight that runs alongside the river east of Wittersham.

The steel sleeper removal was done over a couple of weekends, the first this one with Boris and the KESR team and the second with Gordian DeLand using his Drot 125 and his flatbed lorry with the KESR lads. He needed to get the rail out and the rate of sleeper removal progress didn't meet the export scrap contract timings ,,,,  so the remaining 90% of the sleepers came out in on the second weekend at a very rapid rate.
