The Premise
In this third installment of the adrenaline-fueled
action franchise, skilled assassin John Wick (Reeves) returns with a $14
million price tag on his head and an army of bounty-hunting killers on his
trail. After killing a member of the shadowy international assassin's guild,
the High Table, John Wick is incommunicado, but the world's most ruthless hit
men and women await his every turn.
The Review
Reeves rapture in third chapter.
WOW! WOW! WOW!
This film was just awesome and there
is so much going on I am actually not sure where to begin.
From the moment we were taken back
to the end of chapter two, the brutal never-ending rollercoaster of action-packed
fun begins. The high quality and slick visual sets demand your attention and co-exist
expertly with the ridiculously brilliant choreography and pumping soundtrack.
You will definitely have to watch this movie multiple times to fully appreciate
its individual components.
It is a wonderful to see that with
the use of humourous savagery a sequel not only embrace but improve on what it
did previously. This is an action movie with a simplistic plot that not only
pays homage to the first two chapters but also to samurai, mobster, batman,
Bruce Lee and James Bond, whilst also chucking in Casablanca references. It is
amazing that such energy and intense suspense can be created, maintained and
then bettered as we travel with Keanu Reeves (Point Break) on his journey to
the very top of the High Table.
John Wick’s character is helped
along the way by Halle Berry (Monsters
Ball) who plays the dog loving Sofia and Ian Mcshane (Deadwood) who is brilliant as Winston, the Manager of The
Continental Hotel. In addition, there is a standout performance from Laurence
Fishburne (Man of Steel) who seems
to do his best work in tandem with Reeves in epic franchises. Furthermore, the
quality of Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick (The
Wire) and Mark Dacascos who has some of the best scenes in the whole film
and who clearly steals just a little of Keanu’s thunder.
Finally, a nod to kick boxing
stuntman turned director Chad Stahelski who has delivered big time on the big
screen!
The Verdict
This is a must see for all fans of
action and lovers of everything Keanu. A
truly enjoyable and wild two-hour ride that will have you on the edge of your
seat.
