How Can Creative Writing Form and Intervention for Bereaved Young People?

I'm pondering the question for my Year 3 MSc dissertation.

I've changed my mind about topics from autoethnographic research into my own grief experience to and exploration of how Hip Hop Therapy could act as an intervention with bereaved, and perhaps, disengaged youth; but I find myself heading back to my original purpose for setting up good grief: to explore how creativity could act as a tool for healing grief.

Being as I'm on a Creative Writing Masters (for Therapeutic Purposes so there's a counselling/psychotherapy/psychology/health and wellbeing thread underpinning the writing), I feel I should focus on creative writing interventions.

But then do I need to explore 'interventions'? My purpose here, in setting up this blog, was to disseminate what I learnt along my journey into researching this field, and to share practical tools for people to use themselves or in their work. I want to set up a website, but so far, have only gotten as far as registering the domain name. I'm not worried, sometimes it's better to take time and let the path unfold instead of forcing it and I've had a lot to deal with in other areas of my life. 'Good Grief' has been bubbling away, forming and flowing with everything I do.

I started using Evernote to clip useful articles, videos, images and websites into an online reference library so I have a collection of tagged, bookmarks which I can access anywhere. Recently, I set up a Pinterest account so I could create visual pin-boards of my research.

I've also set up The Good Grief Express, an online newspaper which collects grief-related articles into a newspaper.

This blog started as a means to document my journey into Good Grief. Now I'm on this amazing course, I will also use it as a research journal to document my ideas for the dissertation I will produce next year. I would love to hear from others interested in the subject, people who have encountered loss or maybe even those researching the field. Ideally, I would like to set up an online community for my research.

If, as the Chinese proverb goes: "All good journey's start with a good first step," then this is my first step into researching my thesis question.

Welcome aboard.
